Registered Dental Hygienist

Chris joined our team in 2015 after practicing for 30 years near Toledo.  Her past experiences helped reinforce and shape her convictions for comprehensive, individualized care.  She naturally brings a warm, calming nature to her patients.  Coming from an environment where she had to deal with today’s large practice challenges helps her bring a great deal of knowledge to our clinical staff.  Our practice is a welcome change for her as she and her spouse have chosen to settle in the area.  She has been certified to administer local anesthesia as part of her commitment to keep her patient’s comfortable!

Chris and her spouse, Mark, were married in 2009.  They have two daughters, Ashley and Brittany, and a son, Nick.  They are all grown and happy homeowners.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her kids, going out on her lake in the family pontoon boat, traveling, gardening, and University of Michigan football!!

Registered Dental Hygienist

Laurel joined our team in 2016 as a registered dental hygienist with over 30 years of experience. She graduated from Lansing Community College and received additional advanced education through the Pankey Institute. She is certified in nitrous and local anesthetic administration and will keep you comfortable and mildly entertained with her upbeat personality. Laurel loves dentistry and working with patients to help improve their health and life by educating them about their oral health.

When not in the office you can find Laurel with her husband having fun with children and grandchildren attending various sporting events. They love the outdoors as well and spend as much of the summer as they can out camping.

Front Desk Coordinator

Kari joined Brooklyn Family Dentistry in 2011 bringing with her 4 years of dental experience. Originally from Brooklyn, Kari graduated from Columbia Central High school in 2008. From there she attended JCC and a program called Assist to Succeed where she became a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). She enjoyed working chair-side for many years but has recently transitioned to the front office. The most rewarding part of Kari’s job is contributing to ensure the best possible experience for patients, from the initial phone call, until they walk out the front door after a great dental experience.

Kari and her husband, Patrick, are enjoying life as new parents to their son, Cooper. Kari's hobbies include attending Michigan State football games (Go Green!), traveling and relaxing at home with her puppy, Scout.

Front Desk Coordinator

Julie joined our practice in 2014 and brings over 30 years of dental practice experience. She graduated from Jackson Community College in 2001 with an Associates in Business Management. From dental assisting to practice management, she has extensive knowledge in the field of dentistry. We know you will enjoy the expertise and confidence she brings to our practice.  She is always happy to answer patient questions and concerns. You will find Julie at our front desk to greet you and assist you with appointments and any insurance questions.

Currently, she resides with her husband in nearby Jackson and when not in the office you can find her at home gardening, cooking, doing 5ks, and taking her pair of Beagles for frequent walks!

Dental Assistant

Heather joined our office in 2011, bringing with her 15 years of assisting experience. Heather is a veteran of the US Navy SEABEES, where she was a Heavy Equipment Operator. Her service gave her the opportunity to live, work and travel through the U.S. Originally from Idaho, extended family brought her to Michigan.

Heather enjoys learning and is always looking for better techniques and information that she can put towards her work. She is extremely organized, which is great for being a dental assistant, but drives her husband, Chuck, crazy. Together Heather and Chuck have four children. The youngest two recently graduated from high school. Heather loves what she does and is always striving to make her patients’ experience a positive one.

Dental Assistant

Johnna comes to the practice with 15 years of education and experience as a surgical "first scrub" assistant. In her family life, she was born into a long line of farmers, going back many generations. Her Dad was the first to leave the farm after serving in the Air Force. He made his career as a pilot, and as a consequence, Johnnas family was transferred many times to different parts of the country. "This taught me to make friends quickly" she says. She has now lived in the Brooklyn area for 19 years and has finally found her home on her farm in Clarklake. Johnna is not only an assistant to Dr. Jacobs but also serves her community as a Jackson County Sheriffs Deputy with the Mounted Division. Her equine partner is a quarter horse mare named Star.

"Dr. Jacobs has been my dentist for 19 years. I am thrilled and honored to serve him and his patients. I strive to achieve his level of excellence in patient care every day." - Johnna
